We’re excited to share that The Social Deck has been recertified as a B Corp – for the third time!
This milestone means a lot to us. It’s not just a badge – it shows we’re continuing to walk the talk when it comes to using business as a force for good. Every time we get recertified, we take a deep dive into how we operate – across people, planet, purpose and transparency – and it pushes us to keep raising the bar.
This year’s recertification was a chance to pause and reflect on the journey we’ve been on since 2016. While our business has grown significantly, our purpose hasn’t shifted. We’re still here to create change for people and planet, through community engagement, participatory design, communication, social research and behaviour change.
A look back
We first became certified in 2016, and what our Director of Digital and Innovation said back then still rings true today:
“It’s definitely more than just a label – as part of being awarded B-Corp status, we commit to the highest standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.
Since then, the B Corp movement – and The Social Deck – have both grown significantly. Our first recertification was in 2018 and initiated a time of expansion, not only for our team and projects, but for the movement across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. As we wrote back then, “Business as a force for good is gaining momentum, and for good reason.”
In 2021, we reached our highest-ever score at the time – 116.5 points – which put us in the Top 5% of B Corps in Australia. Our Practice Manager even explored the benefits of B Corp Certification in his MBA thesis.
As our involvement in the movement continues, we recently took the time to critically reflect on what it means to be a B Corp. As we shared in a recent blog during B Corp Month, the movement is not perfect – and we believe it’s important to be proactive and voice concerns, particularly in the current uncertain times.
Our 2025 recertification
This year, we’ve achieved our highest score yet – 120.3 points – across the five B Impact areas:
- Governance
- Workers
- Community
- Environment
- Customers
Each of these areas reflects how we work – from supporting our team and promoting accessibility and inclusion, to reducing our environmental footprint and partnering with purpose-led organisations to create meaningful impact.
As of April 2025, there are 9,576 Certified B Corporations across 102 countries and 160+ industries. We're proud to be one of them – and we’ll keep challenging ourselves to do even better, not just for our clients and partners, but for the communities we work with and the future we want to help build.
